Rockford Man Convicted Of Setting Woman On Fire

ROCKFORD —  A Rockford man is convicted of setting a woman on fire.  David Zurek was found guilty of one count of Aggravated Battery.  Winnebago County prosecutors say officers met with the victim in March 2024.  She told them Zurek doused her with lighter fluid and lit her on fire.  She was able to put the flames out with a shirt and walk herself to the hospital.  The victim suffered burns to her right hand and wrist.
