ROCKFORD – Home sales in Illinois dropped 4.7% in May 2025 compared to the same month last year, with 12,674 closed transactions statewide, according to data from Illinois Realtors. While major regions like Chicago and Champaign saw year-over-year declines, Rockford bucked the trend with a 3.6% increase in closed sales, rising from 363 to 376. Rockford also posted an 11.2% gain in median home prices, reaching $208,000 compared to $187,000 in May 2024. Statewide, median prices rose 5% year-over-year to $315,000, continuing a steady upward trend in home values despite slower overall sales activity.
