ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved an ordinance waiving competitive bidding requirements for the purchase of decorative street lighting fixtures and poles from WESCO. City staff said the Holophane lighting assemblies are available only through a sole source vendor in the region and match the city’s approved lighting standard. The equipment will be installed along Highland Road, Joanne Lane, Scott Avenue, and Sunset Terrace as part of ongoing infrastructure work. Officials said the project ensures compatibility with existing installations and supports previously approved aesthetic standards. The city received a quote of $113,931.25 for the materials, which will be paid through electric funds budgeted for infrastructure improvements.
