ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School District 212 is proposing a $13.1 million property tax levy for 2026, a 2.71% increase over the previous year. Business Manager Kevin Dale told the Board of Education on Monday the district’s estimated equalized assessed value is expected to grow 4.31% to about $658.6 million. The proposed operational levy is $11.85 million, a 4.99% increase that falls below the threshold requiring a Truth in Taxation hearing. The bond and interest levy is expected to decrease nearly 14.72% to about $1.26 million, helping lower the estimated combined tax rate from $2.0209 to $1.9899 per $100 of equalized assessed value. Gale said the district is intentionally leaving about $1.8 million in potential revenue uncollected rather than seeking the maximum amount available. The preliminary levy is expected to return to the board for consideration in November, with final approval due in December.
