OREGON — The Ogle County K9 Fund will host its annual Bark & Whine Ball Saturday, November 7, from 5 to 10 p.m. at River’s Edge Experience in Oregon. This year’s Hollywood Hounds themed event will feature dinner by Ralfie’s BBQ, live music by The Vodka Boys, raffles and a silent auction. David Mordt will be recognized as this year’s Street Dog of the Year for his contributions to the county’s K9 teams and community.
Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputy Ali Van Vickle and her partner Saint will be there, not only so guests can meet them, but to find out more about what the K9 Officers are capable of, including missing person searches.
“So we do a lot of tracking. What that means is they will find a scent for a lot of times we have missing children or missing elderly people, or sometimes when people run away from a crime, they are able to locate them. And sometimes when people run from a crime, they throw items out and they’re able to locate those items as well.” Van Vickle noted.
Tickets are $40 each and are available at the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and Merlin’s Greenhouse. Attendees are encouraged to wear semi formal or formal attire. Proceeds support the purchase of new K9s and help cover food, veterinary care, training and equipment for working K9 teams throughout Ogle County.
