ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council voted last week to sell three aging utility vehicles through a national fleet management program. The vehicles include two Chevrolet trucks and one van used by the water and water reclamation departments for over a decade.
“We have three vehicles, all more than 10 years old now,” said Rochelle Water and Water Reclamation Superintendent Adam Lanning.
Councilman Tom McDermott noted it’s a wise idea to keep up with this.
“Eliminates us ending up with a 15 year old vehicle,” he said.
The sale follows a similar recent move by the city to rotate out older police squad cars.
