ROCHELLE — Rochelle residents who donate blood at Rock River Valley Blood Center sites in Rockford or Freeport before August 24th will be entered into a $500 cash drawing. The contest is limited to those with a Rochelle address.
Maggie Anderson, Donor Recruiter with the Rock River Valley Blood Center, said, “You’ll have to go up to Rockford or Freeport to one of our fixed sites, but right now there aren’t too many people in that drawing, so your chances of winning are pretty high.”
Rochelle Mayor John Bearrows helped put the contest together.
“Well, we know how short they are in supply. So we decided to do a deal where they sign up and anybody that donated blood to the Rockford blood bank gets into a drawing for a $500 cash prize,” he said.
Longwood Donor Center in Rockford and Freeport Donor Center are open.
Additional local blood drives are planned in September at Forreston High School on September 4 and the Rochelle VFW on September 12.
