ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Police Department will host the Law Enforcement Torch Run on June 10th in support of Special Olympics Illinois. The annual event raises awareness and funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities by supporting training, competition, and inclusion programs across the state. Residents are encouraged to support fundraising efforts by purchasing a limited edition Torch Run T-shirt beginning May 15 at the department’s Dunkin event while supplies last. Donations may also be made online.
Rochelle Police Officer James Jakymiw said, “It’s always great when we’re running down Lincoln Highway with a torch and people clapping and showing support on the side of the road.”
The run will step off at 10 a.m. at the corner of Lincoln Highway and Route 38 in the Shell gas station parking lot and proceed south through the heart of downtown Rochelle.
