Rochelle, Park District Approve Golf Course Agreement Amendment

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved a resolution Monday night amending its agreement with the Flagg Rochelle Park District to continue joint ownership and operation of the golf course. The amendment prohibits the City from building a sidewalk or shared use path on golf course property for the next five years due to liability concerns raised by the Park District. While a path may still be built along the public right-of-way by the Illinois Department of Transportation, it is not currently part of the city’s five-year plan, leaving pedestrians and cyclists to continue using the shoulder along Route 251.
