ROCHELLE — Mayor John Bearrows has proclaimed Sept. 29 as VFW Day in Rochelle to recognize the 125th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. The proclamation highlights the VFW’s advocacy on behalf of veterans since its founding in 1899, its role in establishing the Veterans Administration and national cemetery system, and its support for major legislation including the Honoring Our PACT Act.
