Rochelle High School Plans $2.9 Million Budget Deficit

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School is projecting a $2.9 million deficit in its preliminary fiscal 2027 budget, with officials saying the deficit is intentional and will be covered through reserves. Business Manager Kevin Dale reported the district expects about $20.3 million in revenue and $23.2 million in expenditures. The budget includes about $900,000 to pay off the remaining cost of the school parking lot, funding for future track repairs and a $600,000 transfer. Dale said evidence based funding from the state has increased, while state and federal grants are down. The preliminary budget has been available for public review since July 1. A public budget hearing is scheduled 10 minutes before the Sept. 21 school board meeting. Dale said the budget remains preliminary as the district receives additional grant awards and adjusts projected revenue.
