Rochelle Fire Department to Receive New Pickup Truck

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved the purchase of a new pickup truck Monday night for the Rochelle Fire Department from Jeff Perry Chevrolet for $48,531. Fire Chief David Sawlsville said the department’s current truck was purchased in 2012 and is no longer dependable for daily use. The vehicle is used by shift supervisors and to tow several department trailers, including hazardous materials, dive, rescue boat and fire safety equipment. Three bids were submitted for the project, with Jeff Perry Chevrolet providing the lowest bid. The purchase is included in the city’s 2026 budget, with additional outfitting costs expected later.
