Rochelle District 231 Projects $265,000 Deficit in New Budget

ROCHELLE – Rochelle Elementary District 231 presented its tentative budget Tuesday showing a projected deficit of about $265,158 for the fiscal year, with total spending estimated near $23 million. District officials said the shortfall is tied to construction costs covered through transfers from reserves, which remain strong despite the planned spending. The budget outlines revenues of about $22.3 million and expenditures of $25.7 million, offset by $6.5 million in fund transfers. A public hearing was held at Lincoln Elementary School before the board’s regular meeting.
