ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved contracts for the city’s 2026 sidewalk and pedestrian path improvement project, awarding the base and alternate bids to TCI Concrete Inc. The company submitted a base bid of $335,370 and an alternate bid of $216,564, both below the engineer’s estimated costs. The project includes sidewalk replacements, new pedestrian paths, curb and gutter improvements, accessibility ramps, and related work throughout the city. The council also approved up to $47,000 in additional contract work and up to $27,000 for city purchased materials tied to the project. Construction is expected to be substantially completed by the end of October 2026. Interim City Manager Sam Tesreau also recommended the alternate bid proposal which includes a new sidewalk adjacent to the golf course along 251 and a pedestrian crossing near Casey’s across the highway pending IDOT approval.
