ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council has approved an ordinance waiving competitive bidding requirements and authorizing the purchase of four transformers from Wesco Distribution through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program. City staff said the purchase includes two 1500 kVA transformers and two 2500 kVA transformers, which will be added to inventory to replace units used in recent and ongoing projects and to maintain system reliability. Officials said Sourcewell meets local bidding requirements and allows the city to secure favorable pricing without a separate bid process. The total cost of the purchase is $267,962 and will be funded through the electric budget, which has $10.4 million allocated.
