ROCHELLE — Last Monday the Rochelle City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for routine maintenance of state routes within city limits from 2025 through 2035. The agreement covers standard upkeep but excludes major reconstruction or resurfacing projects.
City Engineer Sam Tesreau noted delays in long-term infrastructure improvements on IL 251
“IDOT’s aware of the issues, and they’re committing to working with us on those issues. Therefore, while the agreement is for 10 years, staff is actually recommending a reevaluation of this in 2028, no later than December of 2028,” he said.
