Rochelle City Council Approves Special Use Permit for Well #13 Construction

ROCHELLE – The City of Rochelle has approved a special use permit for the construction of Well #13 on a 2.04-acre parcel located east of 915 Technology Parkway. The new well will help address water pressure issues on the northeast side of the city. The parcel, which is currently vacant land owned by the city, is zoned B-2 Highway Commercial, and a special use is required for utilities in this district. The Rochelle Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the permit during a public hearing earlier this month.

Adam Lanning RMU Superintendent of Water and Water Reclamation said it has been needed for some time now.

“It’s kind of been on the table for several years. We’ve had some development over the last 10-15 years. It’s increased our water usage considerably,” he said.

Construction will likely begin next year.
