Rochelle Approves University of Illinois for Energy Planning Study

ROCHELLE – Rochelle Municipal Utilities will work with the University of Illinois on a yearlong energy planning study funded by a $150,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The study will focus on power purchasing strategies, energy savings, and sustainability efforts for the city. It will include energy audits, data analysis, and engagement with local industries and underserved communities. The University of Illinois was selected after a competitive process for being the most thorough and a trusted local partner. The city council approved the ordinance last week to move forward with the project.
