CHICAGO – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined 17 other attorneys general in filing a comment letter opposing a federal proposal to remove minimum staffing standards and other regulations for long-term care facilities. The coalition said studies show higher staffing levels improve patient care, reduce avoidable hospitalizations, and could save Medicare hundreds of millions of dollars. They urged federal officials to implement rules that maintain minimum staffing requirements and protect vulnerable residents while respecting stronger state standards. The coalition includes attorneys general from 17 other states.
