Raoul Joins Opposition to Rollback of Farmworker Protections

CHICAGO – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined 17 other attorneys general in opposing a proposed Trump administration rule that would roll back protections for foreign temporary agricultural workers. The coalition submitted a letter to the U.S. Department of Labor arguing the rule would weaken safeguards established in 2024 for H-2A visa holders, including wage standards, housing conditions and protections against retaliation and trafficking. The attorneys general said the changes would harm both foreign and U.S. agricultural workers by lowering pay, reducing oversight and creating unsafe working environments.
