Polo Repeals Local Dog Licensing Rules, Keeps Pet Limits

POLO — The Polo City Council has approved an ordinance repealing most local dog licensing requirements while retaining limits on the number of pets allowed at a single property. The ordinance removes city code sections requiring annual dog licenses and tags but keeps a limit of no more than four dogs and cats combined at one location, with exemptions for city licensed dog and cat kennels, and allows only one litter of puppies or kittens at a time, limited to four months of age for puppies and six months for kittens. City officials said the changes do not affect state of Illinois or Ogle County dog licensing requirements, and the ordinance takes effect following passage and publication as required by law.
