POLO – At Monday night’s Polo City Council meeting, Moline Police Chief Darren Gault presented Polo Police Officer Kaden Coppotelli with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Life Saving Award for his heroic actions during a December 17 house fire.
“The Illinois Police Chiefs are always seeking a way to honor local departments whose officers demonstrate bravery and excellence in law enforcement, all while upholding the highest standards,” he said. “Polo Police Officer Caden Capitelli achieved such an honor and tonight I’d like to honor him with an ILACP Life Saving Award.”
Coppotelli, who had been with the department for just five months, was first on the scene and carried a paralyzed man to safety after finding him trapped behind a locked door as flames spread through the home. The award recognized his swift response, bravery, and life-saving efforts that night.
