Polo Considers Changes To Dog Licensing Rules

POLO — The City of Polo is considering an ordinance that would repeal most local dog licensing requirements while keeping limits on the number of pets allowed at a single property. The proposal, first debated last week, would remove sections of the city code that require annual dog licenses and tags, while setting a limit of no more than four dogs and cats combined at one location, with exemptions for city licensed kennels. The ordinance would also allow only one litter of puppies or kittens at a time, with age limits of four months for puppies and six months for kittens. City officials said the changes would not override existing state or county dog licensing rules.
