POLO — The City of Polo on Monday approved Business Development District grants to help local businesses maintain and improve the appearance of their historic buildings. The program reimburses eligible expenses for exterior improvements such as brickwork, painting, awnings, tuckpointing, window or door replacement, roof repairs, and ADA-related upgrades, with grants of up to $5,000 per fiscal year. Chesty P’s at 104 East Mason Street received $5,000 to repair brickwork on the southeast corner of its building, which houses a pub on the ground floor and an apartment above. Polo Family Funeral Home at 610 South Division Avenue received $5,000 for exterior repairs, including washing, staining, and roof maintenance.
