Pets And People Event To Celebrate Historic Iron Fountain In Rochelle

ROCHELLE — The Flagg Rochelle Township Museum will host a Pets and People event May 2 at 1 p.m. at the historic Iron Fountain outside the museum at 518 Fourth Ave. The gathering will mark the seasonal start of the fountain and celebrate its history as a shared water source for people and animals. Organizers said the fountain, first installed in 1915, includes a lower basin designed for animals. Residents are invited to bring pets including dogs, cats, horses and birds. The event will include local history information and light refreshments. Museum officials said the City of Rochelle continues to maintain the fountain, which will remain open during regular museum hours Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
