Oregon Woman Rear-Ended After Slowing for Possum

OREGON — A 34-year-old Oregon woman wasn’t injured Sunday after her vehicle was rear-ended near the intersection of Blackhawk Road and IL Route 64. Deputies said she slowed to avoid a possum when a tractor-trailer driven by a 53-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana man struck her car. Her vehicle left the roadway but returned to rest partially off the road. The Indian man was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid an accident. She refused medical attention. Oregon EMS, fire crews, and Illinois State Police assisted at the scene.
