Oregon Seeks Main Street Manager To Support Downtown Revitalization

OREGON — The City of Oregon is seeking a Main Street Manager to lead efforts tied to The Heart of Oregon Main Street program, a city led effort focused on strengthening the downtown district through investment, business support, and community driven projects.

Mayor Ken Williams noted the importance of strong retail sales in the city at the city council meeting last week.

“The other thing that I think is important for everyone to know is personally I look at sales tax and I look at it as other people’s money. Why? Because half the people with an Oregon address don’t live in the city of Oregon. We have a lot of tourism dollars, yet their purchases still help fund services like boats and police for our residents. So every time sales tax revenue comes in, half of it’s paid by people, but 100% of the money goes to our city residents”

The Oregon City Council voted in favor of creating the position, which will oversee daily operations, coordinate events and promotions, support local businesses, and lead volunteer engagement while managing marketing and program reporting. City officials said the role will also focus on fundraising, grant writing, and building partnerships to support long term downtown growth. The salary range is up to 53,000 dollars with paid time off and potential additional benefits, and the job will include some evening and weekend work.
