Oregon Plans Rock River Cleanup, Volunteers Needed

OREGON — The City of Oregon Sustainability Committee will host the Oregon Area Rock River Sweep on Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a rain date of Sept. 13, to clean a nine-mile section of the river from Mud Creek Road to Castle Rock State Park. Volunteers on foot or in boats will collect trash and sort recyclables, with free canoes and shuttle service available through White Pelican Canoe & Kayak Rental. Registration will be held at Kiwanis Park, Lowden State Park boat landing, and Castle Rock boat landing, with supplies provided and life jackets required for boaters.
