Oregon Moves Forward With 7th Street Water Main Project

OREGON — The City of Oregon approved a motion last week to seek bids this fall for a new water main along the 700 block of 7th Street between Franklin and Madison. The project will replace an undersized and aging line, currently functioning as a main, with a new eight-inch pipe. Crews plan to use directional boring to reduce street damage and avoid nearby gas and utility lines. Each of the five affected homes will receive a new service connection, with efforts made to tie in lines at the right-of-way where possible. The estimated cost ranges up to $275,000, and the work is expected to be completed before major road construction begins.
