OREGON — Oregon Elementary School officials say no weapon was found after a student allegedly told other students during a FaceTime conversation that he had a weapon in his school locker. Superintendent PJ Caposey said in a message to Oregon families that the incident was reported to the Oregon Police Department late Monday, with district administrators notified early Tuesday. Before students and staff arrived at school Tuesday, school officials and police searched the student’s locker but found no weapon. Police also visited the student’s home, met with the student and his parents, and confirmed the student had no access to weapons. The student did not attend school Tuesday. Caposey said there is no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to students or staff, but police will have an increased presence at Oregon Elementary as a precaution. The district said it is taking the report seriously and will continue working with law enforcement to investigate.
