Oregon Council Approves Emergency Water Main Work on West Washington Street

OREGON — The Oregon City Council waived the formal bid process and approved a $54,325 water main replacement in the 100 block of West Washington Street from Martin and Company after workers found a deteriorated cast iron line during construction tied to the Oregon Fire Protection District building project. City officials said the pipe was pitted and needed to be replaced to complete a looped system that will improve water pressure for downtown businesses. The project will be paid for with Tax Increment Financing funds, and the council approved moving forward with the contract.
