Oregon Approves Flower Maintenance Contract As City Reviews Landscaping Costs

OREGON — The Oregon City Council on April 28 approved a contract with Hagemann Horticulture for weekly flower care, watering, and maintenance at a cost not to exceed $40,300, with up to $4,000 allowed for incidental expenses. The work will cover public landscaping and seasonal plantings across the city. The approval comes as officials continue to review ways to reduce downtown landscaping costs while maintaining appearance, including possible plans for city staff to take over planting and maintenance duties in the future. Earlier discussions also included replacing high maintenance ground plantings with planters and reducing watering needs as part of an effort to control expenses.
