OREGON – The Ogle County Jail passed its annual compliance review earlier this year. Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said that the team worked hard to meet all the requirements set by the Illinois Department of Corrections. Major updates include new mattresses for detainees, a new gate for the kitchen entry, the addition of religious volunteers, and a new computer in the booking area. He said that the number of inmates in the facility vary.
“So while we have our average right now is in the 40s, typically it’s well into the 60s during the course of a day,” said Sheriff VanVickle
In addition to local detainees, the jail also holds inmates under contract with the U.S. Marshal Service.
