Ogle County Board Opposes State Bill Requiring TIF Project Listings on Tax Bills

OREGON – The Ogle County Board passed a resolution Tuesday opposing Illinois House Bill 1176, which would require property tax bills to include a list of all Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district projects completed or in progress during the taxable year. The board expressed concern over increased costs and workload for the county treasurer’s office, citing the need for additional printing, postage, and labor without state reimbursement. The bill, introduced in January, has been read twice in the Illinois House and was re-referred to the Rules Committee as of April 11. County officials argue the responsibility for providing TIF project information should fall to the municipalities managing the TIF districts
