OGLE COUNTY — Several people were injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-39 after a moving vehicle struck another that was parked on the shoulder. The Monroe Township Fire Protection District responded just before 9:30 p.m., with additional support from multiple EMS agencies, a medical doctor from Mercyhealth, and a REACT helicopter due to reports of at least one person in serious condition. While emergency crews worked the scene, an Ogle County Sheriff’s Office squad car was also struck during traffic control, though no injuries were reported in that incident. Northbound lanes of I-39 were shut down during the response, and the causes of both crashes remain under investigation.
