ORANGEVILLE — A Freeport woman and a Guatemalan national were killed Saturday in a head-on collision on Illinois Route 26 near Oneco Road in rural Orangeville. The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office said a car driven by 30-year-old Rolando Ico-Choc allegedly crossed the center line and struck an SUV driven by 61-year-old Darcy Connolly-Brunner, the mother of former WNBA player Sophie Brunner. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said toxicology tests will determine if alcohol impairment by Ico-Choc, who had been living in Freeport, was a factor in the crash.
