MONROE CENTER — The Rock River Valley Blood Center will hold a blood drive at Double O Saloon, 5555 Clark St. in Monroe Center, on Wednesday, July 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Officials say blood donations are especially important during the summer when supplies can become strained.
Maggie Anderson, Donor Recruiter with the Rock River Valley Blood Center, said the blood center provides blood products to northern Illinois and beyond.
”There’s 14 hospitals that we are the sole supplier to, so it’s so important we have blood for them. But if something else happens, in our country and somebody else, another blood center needs blood and we have extra, we are always happy to send that.” she said.
Donors are asked to bring a photo ID.
