Mendota Man Charged With Aggravated Battery With Firearm After Shooting

MENDOTA — A 28-year-old Mendota man has been charged following a shooting early Friday at a home in the 100 block of South 13th Avenue, and the victim has been treated and released from a hospital. Mendota police responded at about 12:12 a.m. and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police gave aid until paramedics arrived and the man was taken for treatment. Authorities said the injuries were not life threatening. Investigators said the incident involved a dispute between people who know each other and a firearm was discharged during the confrontation. Armaun R. Williams of Mendota was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony. He remains in the LaSalle County Jail ahead of a pre-trial release hearing.
