Mendota Civic Center Project Proposed for Upgrades

JOLIET – Representative Lauren Underwood announced a proposed $253,000 federal funding request to support improvements to the Mendota Civic Center. The request is part of Community Project Funding submissions for fiscal year 2027 and has not been approved. The proposal would modernize the 17,000 square foot facility with upgrades that include heating and cooling systems, accessibility improvements, and interior repairs. Officials said the building serves as a key gathering place for community programs, events, and local organizations.
