Man Charged With Killing Daughter-In-Law Outside Schaumburg Hotel Ordered Detained

SCHAUMBURG  —  A judge is ordering the 76-year-old Stillman Valley man charged with murdering his daughter in-law in the parking of a hotel in suburban Schaumburg to remain behind bars.  Roland Schmidt was ordered detained in the Cook County Jail yesterday.  Police say 45-year-old Christine Moyer of Galena, Ohio was found last Friday night outside the front entrance of the Marriott Hotel on North Martingale Road with a gunshot wound to the head.  She died later at the hospital.  Officers arrested Schmidt, who is the victim’s father-in-law.  Investigators discovered he was upset with Moyer over divorce paperwork which was filed against his son.  Both were attending a wedding at the hotel.
