Madigan Asks Judge To Stay Out Of Prison During Appeal

CHICAGO –  Michael Madigan is seeking to stay out of prison while he appeals his conviction in his corruption case.  The former Illinois House Speaker made the request to a judge in a court filing.  Madigan is scheduled to report to federal prison on October 13th to begin a seven-and-a-half-year sentence behind bars.  He was found guilty in February of bribery and other corruption counts.  Federal prosecutors say Madigan conspired with others to get ComEd to make monetary payments to his associates in exchange for favorable legislation.
