SYCAMORE — Jim and Kathy Lockard have created the Rooted for Good Endowment Fund through the DeKalb County Community Foundation to provide long term support for efforts to reduce food insecurity in DeKalb County. The fund will support Rooted for Good, a local nonprofit focused on increasing access to healthy food for individuals and families. Foundation officials said the donation reflects a planned gift structure intended to provide ongoing financial stability for the organization while supporting its food assistance programs. The Lockards, who lived in DeKalb County for more than four decades and worked at Northern Illinois University, said the effort reflects their personal connection to food access challenges and their desire to give back to the community. Rooted for Good officials said the endowment will strengthen the organization’s ability to respond to local needs and continue its work to address food insecurity.
