SYCAMORE — Two Iowa men were arrested Friday after a traffic stop on Interstate 88 westbound near mile marker 80, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said a narcotics detective conducted the stop around 4:20 p.m. and located about 11 pounds of purported cannabis, and the passenger was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm. Stone Reginald Waseskuk, 20, of Montour, Iowa, and Layne Michael Geerdes, 22, of Guernsey, Iowa, were taken to the DeKalb County Jail. Waseskuk faces charges including armed violence, cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis. Geerdes faces charges including cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis. He was released with a notice to appear, however Waseskuk remains in custody at the DeKalb County Jail.
