FORRESTON – A 21-year-old Leaf River man was charged with driving under the influence after a two vehicle crash Monday near North Cherry Road and Illinois Route 72 in Forreston. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said the Leaf River man was traveling eastbound in an SUV behind another SUV driven by a 38-year-old Madison, Wisconsin, man when the Leaf River man allegedly failed to slow down and struck the rear of the other vehicle near a construction zone. Both vehicles left the roadway and entered fields on opposite sides of the road. The Wisconsin driver and his occupants were checked by EMS and were not injured. The Leaf River man was taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released with a notice to appear in court.
