Law Enforcement Plans Stepped-up Traffic Patrols for July Fourth Celebrations

SPRINGFIELD – As Independence Day approaches,  law enforcement locally and statewide will be gearing up for increased traffic enforcement to ensure the safety of all residents and motorists. Officers will be working to keep impaired drivers off the road and ticketing unbuckled motorists between now and July 6th.  Driving under the influence endangers yourself, passengers, and other road users, with immeasurable financial and human costs. Choosing not to drive impaired can save lives. Local agencies are teaming up with the Illinois State Police and over 200 local police and sheriffs’ departments to promote safe driving during the holiday season.
