Kishwaukee Hospital Reaches 2,000 Robotic Surgeries After Renovation

DEKALB — Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital has marked its 2,000th robotic-assisted surgery, a milestone following a $15 million renovation of its surgical suite that added a second robotic system and expanded access to minimally invasive procedures. The hospital first introduced robotic surgery in 2022 and now performs more than half of its operations with the technology, which supports urologic, gynecologic, and general surgeries. Over the past year, the hospital’s surgical team performed 809 robotic procedures, a 20 percent increase from prior years, with patients benefiting from smaller incisions, faster recovery times, and reduced risks compared to traditional methods.
