MONROE CENTER — Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 4:45 p.m. Friday to the intersection of North Kilbuck Road and East Big Mound Road for a two-vehicle crash. Deputies said a 23-year-old Kirkland woman allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on East Big Mound Road and was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Rockford man who was northbound on North Kilbuck Road. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a field northeast of the intersection. The Rockford man was transported by Monroe Center EMS to Swedish American Hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries. The Kirkland woman was transported by Lynn Scott Rock EMS to Javon Bea Hospital Riverside with suspected serious injuries. She was cited for failure to reduce speed, disregarding a stop sign, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Deputies were assisted by the Monroe Center Fire Department, Lynn Scott Rock Fire Department, and MD-1.
