Judge Denies Safranek’s Motion for New Judge

OREGON — A judge on Wednesday denied a motion from Sara L. Safranek to replace Judge Anthony Peska in her ongoing murder case. The 38-year-old is accused of suffocating her 7-year-old son, Nataniel Burton, in 2021 and faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted. Safranek remains in custody with a status hearing set for Oct. 29 in Ogle County Court.
