Illinois Treasurer Reports Record $1.57 Billion in Investment Earnings for State

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs announced the state earned a record $1.57 billion in investment returns from its portfolio during Fiscal Year 2025, while nearly $1 billion in earnings went to local governments through the Illinois Funds investment pool. The Treasurer’s Office credited stronger returns to secure investments, including local government bonds and prime money market funds, along with improved fiscal conditions that allowed for longer-term strategies.
