SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office earned $1.5 billion from the state investment portfolio in 2025, with an additional $882 million generated for cities, school districts, and other local governments through the Illinois Funds program. The portfolio is invested in secure local government bonds and prime money market funds, following state law that prohibits direct stock market investments. The Treasurer’s Office also renewed $15 million in Israel Bonds and invested $15 million in Republic of Poland bonds, both meeting strict state and rating requirements. The Illinois Funds pool has a AAA rating from Fitch, and the state portfolio is valued at $39 billion.
